This page lists the Research Services that I offer. You can order the research you require from this page. Credits cannot be used to pay for Research Services.

Please read each service carefully before ordering, some services require specific information in order they can be carried out.

When ordering a service please be sure to give us the details of the person to be researched. When you have paid for the research you can send us a message with more details about the person to be researched.

If there is a service not listed here that you require or need clarification please contact us. For researchers in South Africa.

Postage and photocopying is charged extra on all orders outside the UK and on some services in the UK too.

Where postage and photocopying is charged you will be sent an invoice when the work is completed, you pay for this using the "No Fixed Cost" product at the bottom of this page where you enter in the amount owing. This amount must be paid before the research can be posted.

Full Research Package 1763-1922
Description
This package includes service paper search, campaign medal verifications, searches of other relevant sources (e.g. London Gazette, regimental histories) and a summary of likely war service of approximately 750 words about your ancestorís likely war service.

The summary details when he went to war, what battles he fought in and gives an impression of the general experience he had. This is e-mailed as a PDF document.

Description
This is a summary of approximately 750 words about your ancestorís likely war service.

It details when he went to war, what battles he fought in and gives an impression of the general experience he had. To do this I need the detail from the medal roll and the service papers. Description

Regular Army Service papers 1760-1922
Description
Search for the service papers for Other Ranks (not officers) of the regular Army. Service papers are generally not available for soldiers who died in service prior to 1913.

This search will encompass WO97 and WWI papers only. Use this search if you do not know precise details of your ancestor's military career - for example, if they served in WWI and when they were discharged.

Service includes photocopying and postage for UK clients. Photocopying and postage is charged extra for all other clients.

Colonial Soldiers Enrolment Forms- (WO126)
Description
Search for other rank's enrolment forms for colonial units raised in South Africa for the Anglo-Boer War. Papers for permenant forces of the Cape Colony and Natal, e.g. Cape Mounted Rifles, Cape Police, Natal Field Artillery etc. are not in The National Archives. Please contact a South African Researcher (see link on left).

An officer's paper may be here if he enlisted in the ranks prior to being commissioned.

Sometimes a discharge paper is filed too and this will be copied as well.

The unit must be known before this search can be undertaken.

Officers Regimental Records (WO76)
Description
Records of service for Regular Army officers prior to World War One. This usually consists of a single sheet, it does not necessarily cover the whole career. Not all officers have an entry here.

In addition to checking this index I will spend 30 minutes building a career outline from the Army Lists, this will usually include date of birth, promotions and campaign service.

If the officer concerned served in World War I then it is best to see if he has a file in those indexes.

Description
These files are heavily weeded but can contain much biographical and service information for British Army officers.

The survival rate of these papers is recognised to be about 30%.
